3 Minutes to reflect
In 2021, Copy.ai raised 11 million dollars with an 8-page deck. 11 million divided by 8 is about 1.3 million per page. In reality, 7 pages are almost unnecessary with a growth like the one Copy.ai was showing on page 4.
In 7 months, the annual recurring revenue (ARR) has gone from 0 to 1.2 million. A progression like this is a sign that founders are on the right track towards finding the product market fit.
When a venture capitalist sees this kind of growth, they open their wallets, period. As a consequence, in the seed phase, only 2 pitch decks are needed:
The deck to gather resources to achieve growth like Copy.ai
The deck to raise money for the A round after you have delivered growth like Copy.ai
All-star teams may be able to deliver Copy.ai growth without external resources, making the first of the two decks unnecessary. What is unquestionably needed are 3 verbs and 4 actions repeated for as long as it takes:
(LISTEN -> BUILD -> LISTEN -> ITERATE) x ~26+times = PRODUCT MARKET FIT
Listen to the customer, their pain points and desires. Build an offering of value. Listen to their feedback, the said and unsaid. Iterate (on average 26 times) until your offering of value is irrefutable.
2 Resources to advance to pro-level
Do you want to build an offer your clients can’t refuse? Read this book, apply what you learn, thank me later….
Do you want the copy.ai pitch or other great pitches, here you are sir.
1 Reason to be happy
If you are NOT an investor of Beyond meat you have a great reason to be happy!
2 years ago, we believed the future of meat was in the laboratory. Seems we have collectively changed our mind.
