When I launched angelinvesting.it earlier this year, my goal was to create social pressure to keep me writing regularly. I never could have dreamed that 572 people would subscribe.

You may not have noticed, but at the bottom of the email, there is a button called "invest with me." I put it there without any expectations. For 5-6 weeks, I didn't even check if anyone had clicked it.

To my surprise, 35 people have completed the form and asked to invest together. Among them were entrepreneurs with success stories, managers with a passion for innovation, and young people dreaming of launching their own fund.

Crazy as it may sound, I have already shared an investment or two with a couple of them. Even more remarkable was the motivation they gave me. They wanted to invest together because they were impressed by the honesty and authenticity that they felt.

The internet and authentic content are the key ingredients to build vast communities of like-minded people sharing mutual goals and values bonded by mutual trust.

Building these communities is an extraordinary opportunity for startups. They have the potential to become the backbone of solid businesses, and, a moat like no other.

Authenticity provides a startup with an unfair advantage. Despite having deeper pockets, it is far more difficult for a corporation to appear and be authentic and transparent.
