3 minutes to reflect
Dear reader,
We've crossed a remarkable threshold - newsletter number 100! Two years have passed since that pivotal December 2022 when we embarked on this journey. In retrospect, the genesis of this newsletter emerged from 3 semi-conscient main thought
Thought 1: I discovered that writing serves as a lens, bringing my thoughts into sharper focus.
Thought 2: Mental clarity emerged as a craft I'm determined to refine.
Thought 3: The weekly rhythm of newsletter delivery creates a productive tension, one that keeps my writing momentum alive.
These three insights have woven themselves into the fabric of our shared journey. Now, standing atop the summit of 100 published editions, I can confidently say that each of those initial instincts proved prescient.
The subjects I explore through writing have become territories I navigate with growing confidence. While some weeks tested my resolve to publish, the trust you've placed in me as readers has been a sacred covenant I wouldn't dare breach.
What began as a newsletter has blossomed into something far richer - a bridge connecting me to cherished friends and an avenue leading to remarkable new relationships.
In celebration of this centennial milestone, I'm launching "the 100 edition" series in the coming weeks. Expect deep, nuanced explorations designed to spark profound contemplation and insight.
Thanks for your time and Trust,
SIMONE

1. SAFE in tranches with modular caps
Finding a lead investor is a pain many founders have experienced. Startups need capital quickly, but collecting rolling smaller checks proves even more challenging.
Early investors face a paradox: they take on greater risk by investing before a lead investor is secured, yet they pay the same valuation as those who invest later.
To address this misalignment, Alex Iskold proposes "A Fair Pricing Model for Pre-Seed Rounds" - a thoughtful framework worth exploring.
2. 3 Major breakthroughs you may have missed

China already produces 54% of the world's steel but that's about to rise even further with this method. They cut down iron production time from 6 hours to 6 seconds! Read all about it
There are reports that electricity could become remarkably affordable, thanks to Sam Altman (yes, the former Y Combinator president and OpenAI CEO). According to Craig Mundie, the nuclear fusion company backed by Altman is poised to demonstrate fusion-based electricity generation next year. This could spark a "radical transformation of the energy system" by providing safe, inexpensive power.
