The personal branding emperor has no clothes.
#119 Angelinvesting.it - From idea to Series A - Weekly Newsletter
3 minutes to reflect
If you've met me in person, you know a secret: this newsletter is heavily edited by Claude (my AI companion). Despite 15 years in London, a British wife, and two "far too British" daughters, my English still contains plenty of "faulty bits."
The AI explosion gave me confidence to write this newsletter, knowing technology would polish my thoughts and fix my grammar. I'm not alone—we're witnessing a content explosion, all fueled by the same tech revolution.
This frenzy has been driven by the myth of "personal branding"—something I've believed in for too long. Yes, people judge you from your LinkedIn and Google results before meeting you. No denying that.
But here's the truth: your online presence is just a marginal part of who you are. I've scaled down time posting carefully crafted content and scaled up time spent in real life, actually connecting with people. Fewer connections maybe, but more authentic ones.
Ironic, isn't it? Using AI to explain why we should care less about our AI-polished digital personas. But that's our reality: use the tools, just don't confuse them with genuine human connection.
Have a great easter weekend,
Simone
